On December 7, UAE residents tested their endurance by participating in the Maryam Island Run held along the scenic Sharjah Corniche, while they were cheered by relatives and friends. The competition kicked off from the Maryam Island Sales Centre with over 300 participants and spectators joining the fun weekend.
There were several age groups where participants could join based on their preferred distance – the 2.5-km, 5-km and 10-km run. The 2.5-km were participated by 0–8 years, 9–12 years, 13–18 years, and 19 years and above. For the 5-km and 10-km categories, participants were from 0–18 years, 19–29 years, 30–39 years, 40–49 years, and 50 years and above. In partnership with Super Sports, each participant was given a dry-fit Maryam Island shirt, finisher medal, food and beverage, while the top three winners on both male and female runners in each category were awarded with trophies.
